Many successful businesses -or should I say “most”- started off as a local store or as a story of two friends dreaming big and rocketed thanks to their unique proposition and good services. The Yorkshire Linen Company is one of those retail stories. It set off as a small shop in Halifax back in 1993 and soon grew, thanks to its reputation for quality and value for money products as well as for excellent service. Nowadays The Yorkshire Linen Co. is a successful multi-chain business of 39 stores in the Yorkshire, North East, Liverpool and… Spain’s Costa Blanca area, employing more than 250 employees.

Since the early days in Halifax, The Yorkshire Linen Co. had turned to RCS for their In-store EPoS systems and hardware equipment; in order to be able to keep up with their growth rate and business needs. They soon asked us to update their EPoS system and design a modern, total EPoS solution tailored to their needs. RCS installed 45 integrated EPoS systems in 39 stores, updating their EPoS software to modern standards and replacing the old hardware with Touch-Screen EPoS terminals, cash registers and printers.

The RCS Head-Office Management system was installed in the company’s headquarters, making central management much more efficient and smoother than before. Every remote store and every single till are now connected with the central office, updating the central database at all times. The Head-Office system, including features such as the Central Product and Cash Management, runs all the necessary stock controls and provides the managers with detailed management, sales and staff performance reports.

After installing the EPoS systems throughout the organisation, Ross Leventhal, managing director and owner of The Yorkshire Linen Co., said: “The RCS retail software solution has enhanced the planning of purchase orders and direct-to-store supplier deliveries, as the system provides much more real-time information on fast moving product lines per store, reducing the need for store transfers and centralised large inventory”.
